In the period of shallow drilling, water-based mud is usually applied and the drilling cuttings from shaker/mud cleaner/centrifuge can be stored in a big cuttings tank, from the tank we can adopt flocculation unit and Filter Press for process, to obtain clean brine water with chemicals and dried mud cake. The brine water can be recycled for mixing new drilling, and the dried mud cake can be disposed to the environmental directly.
In the period of deep drilling, Oil-based mud is most common to use. The drilling cuttings from shaker can be treated by vertical cuttings dryer to recover the oil-based mud and pump it back to reuse. The dried cuttings can be storage by cuttings box and transport to Thermal desorption unit for treatment. The drilling cuttings from mud cleaner cyclones and cuttings from centrifuge cannot be treated by vertical cuttings dryer, it need to be collected by cuttings tanks and transport to Thermal desorption unit for treatment.
In offshore drilling, there are different regulations/rules for Barge Rigs, Submersible Rigs, Jack-Up Rigs, Platform Rigs and Floating Rigs or Floaters. For the close to onshore rigs, both the OBM cuttings & WBM cuttings need to bring back to onshore for final treatment. The drilling operations far from onshore, the OBM cuttings need to be transported back to onshore for final treatment; the WBM cuttings can be treated and filtered by Filter Press & Filtration unit and dispose to the appointed sea zone directly. Different countries have different regulations, and each drilling contractor shall work to compliance with the country regulations.
Drilling cuttings blower with dome valve is a vital equipment to transfer the cuttings from offshore platform to cutting boxes in the vessel. With 2unit of cuttings blowers, the cuttings can be transferred continuously. The piping with R-valve, the weigh frames and rig installation modules are all essential parts to complete the drilling cuttings pneumatic conveying system.
