Drilling slops refer to the mixture of drilling fluid, cuttings, and other substances that are produced during the drilling process. Drilling slops can pose a threat to the environment if not properly managed. To manage drilling slops, various methods are used, including:
1) Separation and treatment: Drilling slops can be separated into different components using physical or chemical methods, and then treated to remove contaminants.
2) Disposal: Treated drilling slops can be disposed of in a landfill or other approved disposal facility.
3) Recycling: Some components of drilling slops, such as drilling fluid, can be recycled and reused in the drilling process.
The management of drilling slops is an
important aspect of environmental protection in the oil and gas industry.
Regulations and guidelines are in place to ensure that drilling slops are
properly managed to minimize their impact on the environment.
Since later of 2022, we started a project
for Senegal Drilling slops treatment. After several rounds of discussion, the
clients confirmed on the separation equipment including shale shakers, flocculent
unit, 2-phase decanter centrifuges, disc stack separators, and filtration unit.
Because of the Covid time restriction, the equipment was delivered at beginning
of 2023, and we finalized the commissioning service by 3rd quarter
of 2023. After more than 1 year, the equipment still working well, and it is
very happy to get positive feedback from client. Details of the equipment as follows:
Mini shaker is a 2-panel shaker with
designed treating capacity to fit for the requirement. We usually adopt Italy OLI
vibration motor or US Martin motor. For some special conditions, hydraulic vibration
motor might be required, and we can also provide this type motor. For the
shaker screen, there are metal frame and composite material frame screening,
and we can offer both of them.
The flocculent unit is a 3-chamber
automatic dosing unit, with PLC control system. The dosing unit was designed on
one 20ft container frame for easy loading and offloading.
Mini decanter centrifuge is a 9in decanterwith main drive and back drive motors. The dual motor design can be used to
achieve a adjustable differential speed by working with VFD Control box. We
usually adopt Siemens or ABB or Yaskawa frequency converter to achieve a better
configuration for various applications.
After solids-liquid separation by decanter centrifuge,
the effluent from decanter will be feed to disc stack separator for a further
treatment where the liquid-oil will be separated. Disc stack separator or stack
centrifuge is a high-speed rotation machine which can go up to 6000rpm. With
much higher G-force, the oil and water mixture can be separated easily.
After separation by disk stack separator,
the water will be pumped to the dual pod filtration unit, where the water will
be further cleaned to achieve the discharge standard.
